Define the purpose before choosing a procedure

Decide whether the test is intended to compare packaging concepts, validate a finished retail parcel, assess a master carton or investigate prior damage. Lock the packed configuration

Map the first visible damage to the likely movement or impact path. Adding random material without a hypothesis can increase cost and cube while leaving the failure mechanism intact.

If a supplier rebuilds the sample after failure, verify that the new pack uses materials and assembly methods available in bulk production. A carefully hand-fitted prototype is not a valid production solution unless the line can reproduce it consistently.

Trigger revalidation after meaningful change

Revisit packaging validation when product weight, dimensions, material, accessory arrangement, carton supplier, board grade, insert design, units per carton or delivery channel changes.
