To verify China supplier production capacity, begin with the exact product and requested delivery window. Capacity is not a permanent number attached to a company. It changes with product mix, tooling, shift pattern, current orders, material supply, subcontracting and acceptable quality yield.

Convert monthly output into product-specific math

Capacity should be calculated at the bottleneck, not the fastest process. If molding can make 20,000 units per day but printing can handle 5,000, the system does not have 20,000 units of finished daily capacity.

Request a practical view of committed work during your intended window. The supplier may redact customer identities. Look for peak-season congestion, shared tooling, maintenance and labor constraints. Ask what priority rule applies when several orders compete for the same line.

A promised slot without purchased materials, approved files or an internal order release may not be real. Connect the slot to documented prerequisites.

Verify material lead time independently

Material availability often constrains the schedule before production starts. Confirm standard versus custom inputs, minimum purchase quantities, supplier lead times and holiday exposure. For dedicated material, ask what evidence shows it has been ordered or received.

Do not confuse material in a warehouse with material allocated to your order. Grade, color, lot and quantity must match the specification.

Review labor and shift assumptions

Ask how many trained operators are needed and whether the quotation assumes overtime, temporary workers or an additional shift. Manual assembly and inspection can become bottlenecks even when automated equipment has spare capacity.

Consider turnover and training for quality-sensitive operations. A schedule dependent on untrained temporary labor may require stronger first-piece and in-process controls.

For a new supplier or process, a controlled pilot can test setup, cycle, workmanship, packaging and reporting before full volume. Define what the pilot must prove and how it affects bulk release. Do not call a handmade sample evidence of line capacity.
